Lifting equipment
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) require examination of lifting accessories at six month intervals and lifting equipment at six month or twelve month intervals, depending on the nature and the use of the equipment, or at other intervals stipulated by the competent person.
Examples of lifting equipment are:
- Cranes - e.g. mobile cranes, lorry loader cranes, overhead travelling cranes, manual jib cranes
- Hoists - e.g. electric hoist block, chain block, wire rope block
- Garage equipment - e.g. vehicle lifts, engine hoists, jacks
- Handling equipment - e.g. fork lift trucks, including reach trucks, side loaders, rough terrain trucks, tele-handlers, stacker trucks and pallet trucks. Patient hoists, including bath hoists
- Access equipment e.g. mobile elevated work platforms
Examples of lifting accessories are:
- Slings
- Shackles
- Eyebolts
